Selvi Gibran Invites Parents To Celebrate Children's Differences: They Are All Special With How

JAKARTA - The wife of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Selvi Ananda, reminded parents not to compare the abilities, talents, and interests of young children with one another.

"I am very sure that every child has their own talents. Maybe the age of six years my child has not smoothly read. There are other children who can already read story books. But we don't need to compare," Selvi said at the 2025 National PAUD Mother Appreciation Peak event in Jakarta, which was monitored online, Thursday, November 13.

According to Selvi, each child has different interests and talents so it needs to be given space to develop according to their respective potentials.

He emphasized that early childhood development is very fast and varies, even the age difference of several months can affect learning and adaptability.

Selvi assessed that early childhood education should not only focus on academic abilities such as reading, writing, and counting.

"The children's days must be filled with fun activities and foster affection so that children don't lose their childhood," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between parents, teachers, and Bunda PAUD in each region in shaping children's characters.

"I am sure that with the hard work and collaboration of various parties, Mother PAUD in the regions can be an extension of the government as well as the spearhead of implementing the holistic integrative PAUD policy," he said.

Selvi added that moral and adaptive education is the main foundation that needs to be instilled from an early age before the child steps to the next level of education.

On that occasion, Selvi also expressed her appreciation to PAUD teachers and mothers throughout Indonesia for their dedication in educating children with sincerity.

"We all want Indonesian children to be healthy, smart, moral, and noble character children. They are the nation's next generation to jointly realize the vision of Mr. Prabowo Subianto, to realize Indonesia Gold 2045," he concluded.
