House Of Representatives Commission XI: Redenomination Of Rupiah Can Be Done If The Economy Is Strong

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission XI DPR RI, Dolfie OFP reminded the government not to rashly make changes to the price or redenomination of the rupiah. He emphasized that the rupiah redenomination policy could be carried out if the country's economy was in good condition.

"The rupiah redenomination if it is to be carried out requires stable and strong economic conditions," said Dolfie to reporters, Wednesday, November 12.

According to Dolfie, the redenomination of the rupiah in the midst of strong economic conditions will not have an impact on public inflation and purchasing power.

"This condition can overcome the accompanying impacts, such as inflation and people's purchasing power which can be eroded," said the PDIP legislator from the Central Java (Central Java) IV electoral district.

Dolfie emphasized that redenomination can be carried out if there is a law or legal umbrella that regulates this. However, he confirmed that his party had not yet accepted the proposed bill regarding this matter.

"The rupiah redenomination can be carried out if there is a law governing it. Currently, there is no proposal for a bill related to this," he said.

Previously, the Presidential Palace emphasized that the plan to simplify the value of the rupiah currency or redenomination would not be carried out in the near future. This affirmation was conveyed even though the plan was contained in the new Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK).

The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, confirmed that the plan was still far from being realized. "Not yet, it's still far away," said Prasetyo.
