Hajj 2026: Indonesia Pockets Quota 221,000 Congregants

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage in 1447 H/2026 AD.

The signing took place in the framework of the 5th Hajj Conference and Exhibition initiated by the Ministry of Hajj of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah, on Tuesday 11 November marking the start of a series of preparations for next year's Hajj.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah Gus Irfan expressed his gratitude for the establishment of this cooperation. "We discussed a lot about the preparation for organizing the pilgrimage and emphasized more about health istithos for Indonesian pilgrims, about dams, and finally closed with the signing of the agreement. This year we received a quota of 221,000 pilgrims, all of whom came through Jeddah and Medina," said Gus Irfan.

Gus Irfan added that the success or success of Indonesian Hajj is a reflection of the success of organizing the Hajj as a whole for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia.

"Likewise, if there are challenges, both parties are committed to supporting each other for the success of organizing Indonesian Hajj and the success of the 2026 Hajj," he said.

The Saudi Arabian government emphasizes the importance of eligibility of the health of prospective pilgrims as an absolute requirement for departure. The Indonesian government will tighten the inspection process and ensure that all prospective pilgrims meet health standards.

In addition, both parties agreed that the payment of dams in Saudi Arabia be made officially through Adahi institutions and Nusuk Masar platforms to ensure transparency and accountability.

As for the data, the two countries emphasize the importance of validity and integration of congregational data, including groups, flights, hotels, and transportation to facilitate Hajj operations. A number of sharia from Saudi have also opened offices in Indonesia to strengthen coordination.

The signing of the MoU is the first step towards the implementation of Hajj 1447 H/2026 M which is more orderly, healthy, and civilized and reflects the increasingly solid bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in serving God's guests.
