US Foreign Minister To Canada Attends G7 Meeting, Gaza To Ukraine War Becomes The Topic Of Discussion

JAKARTA - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visitungia, Canada, to join the Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers.

Rubio intends to discuss US President Donald Trump's efforts to realize peace in Ukraine and Gaza, security in Haiti and Sudan, maritime security, critical minerals, and global supply chains with his colleagues from G7 countries from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the UK.

Reported by Reuters, the meeting will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday in Niagara, Ontario.

The two countries struggled to unite to support Russia's planned invasion of Ukraine at a meeting of G7 leaders in June 2025, which was also attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy continues to ask for more weapons from the US, while Trump urged the Ukrainian leader to hand over his territory to Russia to end violence at a meeting in Washington last month.

Ministers from Australia, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, South Korea, South Africa, and Ukraine have also been invited to a meeting this week in Niagara, Canada's Foreign Ministry said.
