JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung met with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to discuss the DKI Provincial Government's plan to revitalize the Old City area.

To Airlangga, Pramono asked BPI Danantara to help in structuring the area.

Pramono assessed that Danantara needed to be involved in the Old Town structuring project. Given, many assets belonging to state-owned enterprises (BUMN) are located in this historical area.

"So there (the Old City) there are assets owned by the central government, especially by the central SOEs. So everything related is of course the togetherness between the Danantara and the DKI Government will be very significant because most of the assets are owned by the central government, especially SOEs," said Pramono at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Office, Monday, November 10.

Pramono also proposed that the revitalization of Kota Tua be designated as a national strategic project (PSN) by the central government. Apart from Kota Tua, Pramono also proposed a plan to build a hospital on land next to Sumber Waras as well as PSN.

Pramono said that the DKI Provincial Government and Danantara have so far agreed on the division of roles. The local government will handle basic infrastructure starting in 2026, while Danantara is responsible for the recovery of building assets in the area.

"The Jakarta Government will immediately carry out this basic infrastructure in 2026. Among them are pedestrians, rivers, then existing roads, we will immediately make improvements. Meanwhile, regarding assets owned by Danantara, they will make improvements," said Pramono.

Regional management will also be adjusted to the progress of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A construction whose route will reach Kota Tua. Pramono said that construction on the surface of the area will be completed in 2027, making it possible to improve spatial planning and develop transit-oriented areas (TOD).

"As we know, until 2027, the construction for MRT (phase 2A) on the surface, which is in Kota Tua does not exist. Everything is now under construction, so that for 2027 it is hoped that renovations or improvements in Kota Tua can be carried out and 2029 MRT has reached Kota Tua. Thus, later for TOD in Kota Tua it is built, preparing is MRT and if that is done I am sure Kota Tua will be very different from today," added Pramono.
