Nunung Restless, Gibran Promises To Help Cassava Process Enter The MBG Menu

SALATIGA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka helps include cassava processed products in the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) menu to support MSME productivity in Salatiga.

When discussing with the Singkong Village Association in Argomulyo District, Salatiga, Central Java, Gibran responded to suggestions from one of the MSME members, Nunung, who wanted cassava and tubers to be included in one of the MBG menus in the Salatiga area.

"I gave an example, Mas, for my elementary school child, on Saturday he did not enter. Then on Friday, he got a menu for Saturday, he got 'crackers', milk, and fruit. Even though in Singkong Village itself, the cracks can be made from cassava," said Nunung at Argotelo Education Tourism, Salatiga, Central Java, reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 7.

Nunung explained that the Snacks are generally given in the MBG menu produced by branded factories. This makes Nunung restless because Kampung Singkong has produced home snacks from cassava. According to Nunung, in addition to being able to increase the productivity of MSMEs, the entry of snacks (crackers) from cassava in the MBG menu is also an effort to introduce cassava as local food to the younger generation. In response to this, Gibran also considers coordinating with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as the MBG implementing institution and the Indonesian Development Mobilizer Bachelor (SPPI) and the MBG kitchen in order to absorb products from the Singkong Village. "I just thought about this too. In junior high school, the menu was rice, chicken, tofu, and vegetable. There are no five kilometers. Maybe later it can be connected to this, sir, BGN, so that later the products can also enter," said Gibran. Gibran said the portion of the cassation snacks for MBG will be adjusted to the student portion, as well as the budget. However, Gibran appreciated the innovation of cassava and sweet potatoes, such as cheese cassion, cascade and sweet potatoes. The product is also available in the form of ready-to-eat packaging. "I think it can (enter MBG). There are various variants of the products. There are wet ones, some are dry, some are frozen. I think here the innovations are good. Later we connect with BGN," said Gibran.

During his visit to the Argotelo Education Tourism, Gibran also saw the cassava processing, starting from cutting, peeling and washing cassava. "Oh, it's still a manual process," said Gibran when he saw employees peeling the cassava skin. Gibran also had time to talk with employees about how long they worked and ended with a photo together.
