Sudanese Military Oaths RSF Basmi, Secures State Border

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council as well as Commander of the Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, emphasized that the Sudanese military would crush the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebel group and ensure national border security.

"We are determined to destroy this enemy and secure Sudan's borders," Al-Burhan said in a meeting with Sudanese military forces.

He said the military would seek retaliation for the victims killed in El-Fashir, Al Junaynah, Al Jazirah, and a number of other cities attacked by the rebel group.

On October 26, RSF forces announced they had taken control of Sudan's 6th military Infantry Division headquarters in El-Fashir, after more than a year and a half of continued fighting in the city that was previously the main government stronghold in North Darfur.

A Sudanese official said the death toll in El-Fashir had risen to around 2,200 after the city fell to RSF.

Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been hit by fierce fighting between RSF forces led by Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo and the regular military.

In March, the Sudanese military announced the success of reclaiming the capital Khartoum completely from control of the RSF.

However, in early April this year, rebels again stepped up attacks on the southern and western regions of the country - especially in Darfur and Kordofan-and announced the formation of their own government in the territory they control.

The two parties in conflict accused each other of killing civilians.
