21 Cases Of HP Theft At The Lombok Island Gas Station Revealed, Announce Victims Of Truck Drivers

The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) revealed a case of the theft of 21 cellphones from a number of public resting places (rest areas) at public gas stations (SPBU), mosques, and modern retailers on the island of Lombok.

Head of the Sub-Directorate of Crime and Violence (Jatanras) of the NTB Police General Criminal Investigation AKBP Catur Erwin Setiawan in Mataram, Thursday, said that in the disclosure of this case, the NTB Police Puma Team managed to apprehend an alleged perpetrator with the initials IL (36).

"So, the person concerned stole 21 cellphones within three days," he said, confiscated by Antara.

The locations where IL acts are located are in the areas of East Lombok, Central Lombok, and West Lombok.

"The person concerned is in action from November 3 to 6, 2025," he said.

Catur said the victims were mostly truck drivers and other four-wheelers. The alleged perpetrator took the opportunity while the driver was resting in the rest area.

"So, the mode is to wait for the victim to be careless while in the rest area, then the person concerned will take the victim's cellphone," he said.

The alleged perpetrator's actions were uncovered after the NTB Police Puma Team received the victim's report. Through a series of investigations, the identity of the alleged perpetrator was revealed.

"We arrested the person concerned while sleeping in the rest area of the Gerimak area gas station, Narmada. Last night," he said.

When he was about to be arrested, IL tried to escape so that officers in the field were forced to paralyze the alleged perpetrator with measured shots on his left calf.

From the examination, Catur explained that the alleged perpetrator from Mapinbru Hamlet, Kebak Village, West Alas District, Sumbawa Besar Regency was recorded as a recidivist in a cellphone theft case with two feelings of living in a prodeo hotel.

"So, this is the third time he will go to prison for a theft case," he said.

The person concerned is suspected of having a network in the theft of cellphones. After taking action on the island of Lombok, all cellphones stolen were sold on the island of Sumbawa.

"So, today he actually plans to go to Sumbawa Island to sell stolen goods. Therefore, in developing this case we are still investigating the network," said Catur.
