289 Houses Damaged By Angin Puting Beliung Terjang Kota Bandung

BANDUNG - Bandung City Government noted that 289 houses were damaged by a tornado that occurred in three sub-districts in Bandung on Tuesday (5/11).

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan ensured that the government's first step was to ensure the safety of citizens by re-assessing so that all victims were in a safe place and there were no further casualties.

"With great concern, we have immediately approached the victims. The condition is very concerning, many houses cannot be lived because the roof is lost," said Farhan in Bandung, Wednesday, November 5, as reported by ANTARA.

Farhan detailed that of the 289 houses that were damaged, there were 103 houses in Cinambo District, 93 houses in Ujungberung District, and 93 houses in Cibiru District.

"Based on temporary data, a total of 289 houses were damaged by the tornado, with around 900 people affected," he said.

He said he had ordered the Social Service (Dinsos) to immediately collect data on the needs of affected residents and distribute aid in a maximum of less than 24 hours.

"The main thing is to make sure the victim is safe. Do not let additional victims occur in the event of rain or aftershocks," he said.

He appealed to the public to remain alert to the potential for extreme weather.

Bandung residents must be on standby one hundred percent. We cannot predict when extreme weather will occur, but the government will not remain silent. All elements are already moving together," said Farhan.

Furthermore, Farhan said that his party together with Bank BJB also provided cash assistance for damaged residents' houses. Each amounted to Rp1 million for minor damage, Rp2 million for moderate use, and Rp3 million for severe damage.
