MANOKWARI - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka presented bicycles to elementary, middle, and high school students at YPK Manokwari in West Papua, who excelled at fast arithmetic using the "gasing" method, which translates as "easy, fun, and enjoyable."

Upon arriving at the YPK Manokwari school today, Vice President Gibran visited a classroom filled with dozens of students from various elementary and middle schools. The children were practicing their fast arithmetic method by singing and playing.

"Is math difficult? It's fun, isn't it?" Gibran asked a student named Samuel at YPK Manokwari Middle School, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 5.

Samuel, a fourth-grade student, was seen quickly answering addition and squares questions given by renowned math expert Prof. Yohanes Surya.

Gibran was quite impressed with Samuel's quick arithmetic skills. The former Mayor of Solo even presented Samuel with a bicycle.

"So, the bicycle? But you have to keep studying hard," said the Vice President.

The Vice President also visited two other classes learning speed arithmetic using the spinning top method.

"Who wants a bicycle? Who lives far away? The furthest away?" Gibran asked the students.

Aprilia, a student from SMPN 10 Manokwari, admitted that she no longer has difficulty with math since learning to count using the spinning top method.

"Now I enjoy learning math. Before, I was afraid because it was difficult," she said.

Vice President Gibran donated a total of 10 bicycles, three of which were symbolically given directly to the students.

According to information gathered, spinning top mathematics is a mathematics learning method designed by Prof. Yohanes Surya, which stands for "Easy, Fun, and Enjoyable."

This method focuses on understanding concepts gradually, starting with concrete objects before moving on to abstract symbols, with the goal of enabling students to master mathematics quickly and enjoyably.
