For Trauma, LPSK Receives 19 Applications For Protection Of Victims Of Riots At The End Of August

BANDUNG The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) moved quickly to secure those affected by the riots which ended in chaos at the end of August 2025. Deputy Chairperson of LPSK, Wawan Fahrudin, revealed that 19 requests for protection had entered his institution regarding the incident.

This application comes from various regions in Indonesia and includes various forms of protection.

"Maybe there is a sense of trauma there, we can provide rehabilitation, the psychology can also be done. It just depends on the request for protection," Wawan said in a media gathering in Bandung, West Java, Tuesday (4/11) night.

Wawan detailed, the types of protection proposed include physical protection for applicants and their families, house security and escort, and mental recovery due to trauma.

The application for protection that goes to LPSK shows that the impact of the riots is widespread and is not centered only in the capital city. The distribution of the application was recorded to include six requests from Jakarta, five requests from Central Java, and four requests from Kediri (East Java), while the remaining one application each came from North Sumatra, West Java, and South Sulawesi.

Previously, Komnas HAM Chairman Anis Hidayah in Jakarta, Monday (29/9), targeted an investigation into the August 'September 2025 riot case to be completed in early December.

"If the commitments from the six institutions, we will try to finish early December. Later, the results will certainly be submitted to the President and the DPR," said Anis.

Initial Findings: Alleged Casualties And Violations Of Procedures

The Independent Fact Finding Team is tasked with collecting field data, verifying alleged violations, and formulating recommendations.

Anis Hidayah also revealed that the initial findings were quite serious, namely the alleged error in the procedures of the apparatus, arbitrary arrests, up to the suspicion that 10 people had died during the riots.

"Our development is still identifying related to the initial findings. Including we are conducting an investigation into 10 people suspected of being victims of life during the August 'September riots," Anis concluded.
