Prevent Floods, Jakarta Conducts Weather Modification Operations Starting November 5

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Jakarta will carry out a weather modification operation (OMC) with the central government on November 5, 2025 to anticipate the potential for high rainfall that is expected to occur.

"It is estimated that the rainfall is high, (OMC is carried out) so that rainfall can be managed properly," said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo in the Lebak Bulus area, South Jakarta, Tuesday, November 4, as reported by Antara.

Pramono ensured that the Jakarta Provincial Government had sufficient budget to carry out the operation for the next 25 days. However, he has not stated the value of the budget prepared.

In addition to making weather modifications, the local government also instructed all levels of the region and task forces (tasks) in the field to improve communication, monitoring, and dissemination of information to the public.

The Jakarta Provincial Government's water pumps were also alerted as an anticipatory measure to deal with the possibility of flooding. As part of the preparedness, the Jakarta Provincial Government held Apples and Simulations to Guard Jakarta Facing the Rainy Season, which was attended by all elements of the local government, TNI, Polri, volunteers, and the community.

"Starting today, apples and simulations will protect Jakarta from flooding so that it becomes a joint movement for all elements of the Jakarta Provincial Government, TNI, Polri, volunteers, and the community," said Pramono.

After starting in South Jakarta, similar activities will be carried out in a row throughout the city area to ensure the preparedness of officers from upstream to coastal areas.

"Synergy of all elements is the main key. The Provincial Government of Jakarta is proud to have a strong disaster management component and is ready to help and serve the affected residents," said Pramono.
