JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump's government is initiating a ceasefire in Sudan.
In the proposal, the Sudanese army will be met with troops of Sudan's Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
"The Security and Defense Council will hold a meeting today to discuss the proposed US ceasefire," a government source told AFP, Tuesday, November 4.
An unnamed source because he was deemed not authorized to provide information to the media added that the meeting was planned to be held today.
The Security and Defense Council is known to be supported by Sudanese soldiers.
The ceasefire's proposal rolled out more than a week after Sudan's paramilitary forces surrounded Al-Fashir City.
During the operation, it was estimated that hundreds of Sudanese civilians and unarmed fighters were killed.
