Jonan Ready To Enter Praboowo's Government

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan said he was ready if President Prabowo Subianto asked to return to service.

But in his 2 hours chat at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Jonan admitted that he had not received an offer to join the Prabw government.

"As a citizen, if you are asked to work for the state, you should be ready, if you can afford it. If I can afford it. That's all. It depends on the one who gives the task," he said when asked by reporters regarding the opportunity to return to service for the country, Monday, November 3.

In his meeting with the President in order to exchange views around government programs, he said there had been no offer of any assignment from the Head of State.

Jonan said his meeting with the President was purely a discussion and exchange of views as citizens.

"There is no offer. This is just a discussion," he said.

However, Jonan expressed his readiness if one day the state again asked him to carry out certain tasks.

He emphasized that his willingness was a form of moral responsibility as a citizen, not because there were special talks regarding positions or assignments.

Jonan previously met President Prabowo Subianto in a meeting facilitated by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, discussing various national development issues to the people's program.

Jonan's name soared while serving as President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) for the 2009 to 2014 period. Under his leadership, PT KAI transformed to improve public services and operational management to change the face of Indonesian rail transportation for the better.

This success led him to the government seat as Minister of Transportation (2014-2016), and then as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) from 2016 to 2019, before finally becoming active as a commissioner in various leading private companies.
