Ministry Of Social Affairs-Ministry Of P2MI Collaboration On Migrant Worker Materials At People's Schools

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) synergizes with the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) in integrating materials about migrant workers into the People's School program.

Minister of P2MI Mukhtarudin said the collaboration aims to strengthen the migrant worker service system since before the placement, while working abroad, until after returning to the country.

The goal is to increase collaboration and synergy between institutions or between state instruments. According to him, cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs is a strategic step so that education on the rights, obligations, and protection of migrant workers can be given from an early age to the community, especially prospective young workers.

"We want this People's School to also include material related to the issue of migrant workers or for those interested in becoming Indonesian migrant workers," he said.

Mukhtarudin explained that the policy was in line with President Prabowo Subianto's directive so that P2MI would not only focus on protecting migrant workers, but also on increasing the capacity of human resources through vocational education.

He assessed that the integration of this program would strengthen the national system of job creation in coordination with all state instruments, including education, social, and employment.

"With an integrated system from the start, we hope that the community will get enough provision before becoming migrant workers," he said.

Mukhtarudin added that details of program implementation will be discussed with the Ministry of Social Affairs, including curriculum mechanisms and determination of the location of the People's School which is a pilot project.
