JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump throws a psychedir, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's term of office will end soon amid rising tensions and the increasing presence of the American military in the Caribbean.
In an interview with program 60 Minutes on CBS News which aired on Sunday (2/11), Trump was asked by host Norah O'Donnell whether Maduro's term as president would not be long.
"I will answer yes. I think so," he replied, denying the possibility of a fight against Venezuela.
However, Trump declined to say whether the issue of potential ground attacks in Venezuela was true or not.
"It looks like I wouldn't say I would do that," he said, without giving further details as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu.
On Friday, Trump also denied reports of media attacks on military installations in Venezuela imminent, and told reporters he had not made a decision on the matter.
Some US media reports the Trump administration has decided to launch an attack on military installations in Venezuela as part of an alleged war against "narco-terrorism" and the attack could occur at any time.
Washington accuses Maduro of leading the Cartel de los Soles, the South American country-based criminal group.
In July 2025, Washington designated it a Specially Determined Global Terrorist Organization (SDGT).
At least 14 attacks have been carried out since early September, mostly in the Caribbean Sea and the East Pacific, killing more than 64 people.
Human rights groups and legal experts questioned the legality of the operation, citing US attacks on ships suspected of transporting drugs in violation of international law.
