JAKARTA - China insists it will continue to practice true multilateralism, a day after United States (US) PresidentDonald Trump called his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping a G2 or a 'Group of Two'.
"China will continue to apply true multilateralism, and cooperate with other countries to enforce a multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization (WTO) in essence, comply with the UN Charter and basic norms of international relations," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun, Friday, October 31.
Guo said China and the United States can jointly assume responsibility as big countries, and work together to achieve more big and concrete things for the good of both countries and the rest of the world.
According to him, China implemented an independent foreign policy and love for peace, and emphasized that China will always stand with other developing countries.
The meeting between Trump and Xi took place in Busan Harbor City, South Korea, Thursday (30/10), where the two countries agreed to maintain stability in trade relations and review some of the tariffs and export restrictions.
