Pati Regent Sudewo Escaped From Council Impeachment

PATI - The Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Pati Regency, Central Java, has provided recommendations for improving performance to Regent Pati Sudewo after going through a series of plenary meetings to deliver the results of the special committee on the right of inquiry. Sudewo escaped the impeachment of the council.

Chairman of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Pati Regency Ali Badrudin conveyed that today's plenary meeting has two main agendas, namely the submission of special committee results (special committee) on the right of inquiry and plenary rights to express opinions.

"The special committee report has been read out in the plenary forum. Furthermore, all factions conveyed their respective political attitudes," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 31.

In the forum, there were two options that surfaced, namely the impeachment of the Regent of Sudewo proposed by the PDI-P faction and the recommendation for improving performance proposed by six other factions, namely the Gerindra Party faction, PPP, PKB, Democrats, PKS, and the Golkar Party.

Of the 49 council members present, 36 votes from six factions supported the recommendation so that the option won based on the voting mechanism.

"As a rule, two-thirds of the vote or 33 members are needed to propose impeachment. Those who meet the requirements are six factions who want recommendations for improvement," he said.

Thus, the Pati DPRD did not continue the impeachment process for the Regent of Sudewo because the recommendation would later be submitted to the regent, with a copy to the Governor of Central Java and the Minister of Home Affairs.

Ali emphasized that there was no engineering in this process because everything had been scheduled from the start and the meeting was also held neutrally.

Ali explained that in the plenary forum, Regent Pati Sudewo has also conveyed his commitment to improving future performance because it is the duty of the DPRD to oversee it through the functions of supervision, budgeting, and legislation.

Regarding the possibility of public reactions to the DPRD's decision, Ali asked the Pati people to accept the results.

"Whatever the result, it is legal according to the law. We respect the rights of each faction. If there is criticism of us, especially the PDI-P, we are ready to accept it," he said.

Meanwhile, outside the Pati DPRD building, a demonstration was held which was attended by thousands of people who wanted the impeachment of the Regent of Sudewo.

The policy budget for the Regent Pati Sudewo has been working since August 13, 2025. Then today a plenary meeting was held to deliver the results of the right of inquiry by the Chairman of the Special Committee for the Budget Rights of the DPRD Pati Bandang Teguh Waluyo.

In its report, the Special Committee for the Right to Question the DPRD Pati conveyed 12 points of investigation of various regent policies, including the issue of increasing land and building taxes, complicating public services, mutations of state civil servants, dismissal of Pati Hospital employees, the process of procuring goods and services, to infrastructure projects as well as micro, small and medium enterprise policies (MSMEs).

Then related to the investigation regarding public deception, the replacement of the Pati Regency slogan, violating the oath of office and being arrogant, the appointment of a problematic regional secretary to the policy of managing the Amil Zakat Agency or Baznas Pati Regency which is considered not neutral.

As a result, the PDIP faction proposed the dismissal of the Sudewo Regent, while other factions encouraged improvements in the performance of the regent and several special notes related to governance and policy transparency.
