MKD Decides Rahayu Saraswati To Remain A Member Of The DPR, Dasco: No Violations

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, explained the reason why the Honorary Council of the House of Representatives (MKD) decided that the Gerindra legislature, Rahayu Saraswati, would remain a member of the DPR for the period 2024-2029.

Dasco emphasized that the MKD did not find any ethical violations committed by Rahayu or Sara, and that his resignation had been rejected by the party court.

"So, Sara, there are no reports either to the party court or to the MKD. There is no reporting, okay. Then, there are party cadres asking for a determination from the party court, so that the party court refuses Sara's resignation and permanent as a member of the DPR," Dasco told reporters, Thursday, October 30.

Dasco said the Gerindra Party Court gave several conclusions. First; there is no report, second; no one is accused or violated, third; because of pressure.

"So what is developing in the public, is old content and then edited so that it gives rise to a meaning that is not the same as what was conveyed," said Dasco.

"Then because of the pressure, according to this, Sara has resigned verbally. Then, administratively, there is no written resignation letter. And there is also no letter of deactivation from the party," continued the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP.

By considering these things, including a petition from tens of thousands of Sara supporters to the party court, the Gerindra Party Court decided that his resignation did not meet the legal requirements, and then appointed Sara still a member of the DPR for the 2024-2029 period.

"Now the decision of the party court was then sent to the MKD. Which then after being examined by the Honorary Court of the Council, and also there was no report on the MKD, so finally the decision was decided," explained Dasco. (So) Yes. There were no violations," he added.

Previously, the DPR MKD decided that Gerindra Party politician, Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, or Sara remained a member of the DPR for the period 2024-2029.

The decision was taken in a closed meeting of the DPR MKD on Wednesday, October 29.

"After considering legal aspects, MKD procedures, as well as the decision of the Gerindra Party Honorary Council, MKD decided that Sister Rahayu Saraswati remains a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the period 2024-2029," reads a written statement from the DPR MKD released on Thursday, October 30.
