Fallen Tree In South Jakarta Hits Car During Heavy Rain, One Person Dies

JAKARTA - A fallen tree on Jalan Dharmawangsa Raya, Pulo Village, Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta, when heavy rains flushed Jakarta this afternoon. This incident occurred at 15.15 WIB.

The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that the fallen tree hit 5 cars and two people became victims. One of them was declared dead.

The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital using an ambulance.

"One victim was injured. Meanwhile, one person was unconscious and was hit by a tree in the car and the victim was declared dead by the RSPP doctor," said Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD Data and Information Center (Kapusdatin) Mohamad Yohan in his statement, Thursday, October 30.

In handling it, joint officers from the DKI BPBD, the DKI Jakarta Parks and Forestry Sub-dept., firefighters immediately evacuated the victim and lifted the tree.

"Pohon yang terjatuh berupa pohon rengas. Tumbangnya pohon akibat hujan Intesitas deras dan angin kencang," ujar Yohan.

A similar incident also occurred a few days ago. Heavy rain and strong winds caused a large tree to fall on a luxury Lexus car numbered B 1732 SJV on Jalan Metro Pondok, South Jakarta, Sunday, October 26, afternoon.

The tragic incident occurred at around 14.00 WIB causing the driver of the car to die on the spot. Residents and joint officers then evacuated the victim.
