Kremlin Confirms Trump's Nuclear Torpedo Test Doesn't Mean 'Hot-hot' Trump

The Kremlin said Russia's nuclear-powered missile and torpedo tests were not a nuclear weapons test after President Donald Trump signaled the United States would continue nuclear weapons tests.

As reported by Reuters on Thursday, October 30, President Vladimir Putin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, has warned that if any country tests nuclear weapons, then Russia will do so.

Putin said on Wednesday Russia had successfully tested the Poseidon super nuclear-powered torpedo which military analysts said was capable of destroying coastal territory by triggering a large radioactive sea wave.

There are few confirmed details about the Poseidon, but basically these torpedoes are a combination of torpedoes and nuclear-capable drones.

President Putin, while enjoying tea and cakes at a hospital in Moscow with Russian soldiers injured in the Ukraine war, said the trial had taken place on Tuesday.

"For the first time, we managed not only to launch it with launch engines from carrier submarines, but also to launch a nuclear power unit that this device has been using for some time," President Putin said.

"Nothing like this," he said, adding there was no way to intercept the Poseidon, which analysts said had a range of 10,000 km (6,200 miles) and could travel at a speed of about 185 km per hour.

Trump instructed the Pentagon to conduct a nuclear test about an hour before meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in Busan, South Korea, Thursday, October 30.

The order was conveyed by Trump in his upload on Truth Social's social media. Initially Trump praised the US nuclear capacity.

"The United States has more nuclear weapons than any other country," Trump said in the post, quoted by ABC News.

He then ordered the Pentagon to conduct military tests on "the same basis" as the test program for other countries that have nuclear weapons.

"Russia is in second place, and China is in third place, but it will match it in 5 years," Trump said.

Trump stressed that US nuclear trials must be carried out as soon as possible.

"Since other countries are testing the program, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our nuclear weapons equally. That process will begin soon," he continued.
