JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump said China agreed to start the US energy purchase process. This was conveyed by Trump after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.
"In fact, very large-scale transactions may occur regarding the purchase of Oil and Gas from the State of Alaska. Chris Wright, Doug Burgum, and our Energy teams will each meet to see if such an Energy Agreement can materialize," Trump said in a post. on Truth Social reported by Reuters, Thursday, October 30.
China previously avoided imports of US crude oil and reselled US liquid natural gas since the start of this year as Beijing's high tariffs made the purchase unfit.
The US accounted for about 5% of China's LNG imports and 2% of Chinese crude imports last year, according to Chinese customs data.
