Request To Be Canceled, Free Of Condition Setya Novanto Sued To Jakarta Administrative Court

JAKARTA - The conditional release of former DPR Speaker Setya Novanto was sued at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN). This legal step was proposed by the People's Alliance for Indonesian Justice and Welfare (ARUKKI) and the Indonesian Law Enforcement Supervisory and Guard Institute (LP3HI).

Based on information from the Jakarta Administrative Court Case Tracking Information System (SIPP), the lawsuit is registered with number 357/G/2025/PTUN.JKT. The submission was made on Wednesday, October 22.

In the SIPP, the parties being sued were the Minister of Immigration and Corrections of the Republic of Indonesia and the Director General of Corrections of the Republic of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Boyamin Saiman as the attorney for ARRUKI and LP3H said the lawsuit was filed because the public was disappointed that Setya Novanto received parole. Thus, this decision is expected to be canceled by the Jakarta Administrative Court.

"People represented by ARRUKI and LP3HI are disappointed with Setnov's conditional release so as to file a lawsuit for the cancellation of Setnov's conditional release decision," Boyamin said when contacted, Wednesday, October 29.

Boyamin emphasized that problematic prisoners such as Setya Novanto also cannot be released on condition. Because, he is still caught in another case.

"Setnov is still stuck in the money laundering case at Bareskrim," he said.

As previously reported, Setya Novanto, who is a former chairman of the DPR, officially breathed free air after getting his rights, was released on August 16, 2025. He had to serve a sentence for being a convict in the corruption case of the electronic identity card procurement project (e-KTP) handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Section of the Directorate General of Corrections Rika Aprianti explained that the proposal for the Setnov parole program was approved by the Ditjenpas Correctional Observer Team (TPP) Session on August 10, 2025.

"On August 16, 2025, he was expelled from Sukamiskin Prison with a Conditional Program, based on the Decree of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections on August 15, 2025, No. PAS-1423 PK.05.03 of 2025," said Rika in her statement, Sunday, August 17.
