South Tangerang City Government Immediately Distribute Clean Water For Residents Affected By Cipeucang TPA Pollution

TANGSEL - The City Government (Pemkot) of South Tangerang (Tangsel), Banten Province, immediately followed up on the need for clean water for residents of RT 06/RW 04, Serpong Village, who were affected by environmental pollution from the Cipeucang Final Disposal Site (TPA).

"If it's not enough, we will add to the number of residents who need it so that the need for clean water can be met," said Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang Pilar Saga Ichsan in Tangerang, Antara, Wednesday, October 29.

He said the local government would immediately distribute clean water to affected residents, responding to complaints of water shortages due to pollution from the Cipeucang TPA.

In addition, Pilar has also ordered the Environment Agency (DLH) to collect data so that clean water shipments can be accommodated properly.

"Let's just tell the Environment Agency or the sub-district so that later we can also encourage assistance for budgeting," he said.

In the long term, the Tangsel City Government is looking for a permanent solution to reduce the impact of environmental pollution from the TPA. Pilar said that his party would prepare a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) so that the disposal of lindi water from the TPA could be controlled and did not pollute residents' groundwater.

"Now we will prepare the IPAL. So hopefully with IPAL, the disposal of lindi water and so on can be controlled," he said.

Previously, residents of RT 06/RW 04, Serpong Village, complained about the difficulty of obtaining clean water. One resident, Agus, said that the groundwater around his house could no longer be used because it was suspected of being polluted by waste from the Cipeucang TPA.

"All activities use gallon water purchased. So increase expenses, because a day it can be four gallons for drinking, cooking, and so on," he said.

Agus menambahkan, untuk mandi, mencuci, dan kebutuhan lainnya, warga terpaksa mengambil air dari daerah lain yang tidak terdampak pencemaran. “Permasalahan ini sudah kami adukan langsung ke pemerintah daerah setempat,” ungkapnya.

Agus added, to bathe, wash, and other necessities, residents were forced to take water from other areas that were not affected by pollution. "We have complained about this problem directly to the local government," he said.
