JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) held a ceremony to commemorate the 97th Youth Pledge Day at the City Hall Courtyard, Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
The ceremony was chaired by the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno and attended by the ranks of the state civil apparatus (ASN) and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of DKI Jakarta Province.
In his mandate, Rano invited the community, especially the younger generation of Jakarta, to emulate the spirit of unity shown by the youth in 1928. According to him, the values of the Youth Pledge remain an important foundation in maintaining the integrity of the nation in the midst of the dynamics of the times.
"We need to learn more from young people in 1928 that unity is not a gift, but a decision. Unity is not something that comes by itself, but something that is fought for, cared for, and consciously we choose every day," said Rano, Tuesday, October 28.
Rano emphasized that the future of Jakarta and Indonesia is in the hands of the younger generation who dare to dream and not give up easily in facing challenges. He reminded that love for the homeland is not only manifested in words, but also through concrete actions in everyday life.
"I believe the future of Jakarta and Indonesia is in our hands who are not afraid to dream, don't get tired of trying, and don't stop loving this country," he said.
Rano also hopes that the momentum of Youth Pledge Day will serve as a reminder for the younger generation of the capital city to continue to foster the spirit of collaboration and hard work. According to him, the spirit of unity needs to be revived as social capital to realize Jakarta as a global city with competitiveness and character.
This, continued Rano, was driven by the DKI Provincial Government's policy of favoring children and students. Programs such as the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and the Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU) called Rano are a real effort so that all children in Jakarta have a decent and equal educational opportunity.
In addition, the DKI Provincial Government also provides space for the development of youth potential in the field of sports. In the near future, Jakarta will host two national events, namely the XVII National Student Sports Week (POPNAS) and the XI National Student Paralympic Sports Week (PEPAPERNAS) in early November 2025.
