Stop Investigation, KPK Calls Land Procurement For Sumber Waras Hospital In 2014 According To Procedures

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the land acquisition around the Sumber Waras Hospital, Jakarta in 2014 was in accordance with the procedure. This condition made the investigation process terminated because there was no criminal element.

"The investigation of the case has been stopped because no elements of illegal acts have been found. The procurement process has also been carried out according to the procedure and the legal form," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters in a written statement, Monday, October 27.

The KPK has invited the Jakarta Provincial Government to use the land to build hospitals. Because the status of the land, continued Budi, had no problems.

The KPK is also ready to provide assistance in the future so that similar problems do not occur. "KPK fully supports the steps taken by the DKI Provincial Government to utilize the land for improving public services," he said.

"If needed, the KPK will support it through assistance in the supervisory coordination function," he continued.

The KPK previously said that it had stopped the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of the Sumber Waras Hospital (RS) by the Jakarta Provincial Government worth Rp800 billion. The termination of the case, which had been investigated since 2016, was decided in 2023 because sufficient evidence was found to be brought to the investigation stage.

This assurance was conveyed by the Director of Coordination and Supervision of Region II KPK, Bahtiar Ujang Purnama, after the Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung held an audience at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, October 16, 2025.

"That it was true that in 2014 the procurement was carried out by the KPK's investigation steps. However, after an analysis was carried out with various kinds of evidence or other evidence, the KPK decided that the available evidence was not sufficient for investigation steps," said Bahtiar.

"So that in the realm of investigation, the KPK in 2023 has stopped investigating the case," he continued.

For information, this case began in 2014 when the Jakarta Provincial Government purchased land for the Sumber Waras Health Foundation worth Rp800 billion from the Revised APBD. In 2015, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) found indications of state losses of around Rp191 billion and submitted the audit findings to the KPK in 2016.

A number of parties, including the Governor of Jakarta at that time, Basuki Tjahja Purnama (Ahok), were summoned for questioning.
