Member Of Commission VII DPR: Maximize West Kalimantan Tourism Promotion Via Social Media

Member of Commission VII DPR RI Alifudin encouraged the people of West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) to maximize the potential of social media in introducing the beauty and diversity of regional tourism to the national and international levels.

"Through the dissemination of tourism marketing strategies and communications through social media, we want the public to understand how to use social media wisely to introduce tourism in West Kalimantan. Do not let it promote negative things that can reduce tourist interest," Alifudin said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, October 26.

According to him, West Kalimantan has the potential for tourism to continue to grow rapidly, especially with the increasing promotions carried out by the public through various social media platforms and publication support from media partners.

"The growth is very fast, especially in the culinary sector. Traditional food in West Kalimantan is one of the best and most attractive to tourists," he said.

He said, if tourism management is carried out appropriately, both marine, mountainous, and cultural tourism, West Kalimantan will have strong competitiveness in attracting domestic and foreign tourist visits.

However, in the midst of this growth, a number of obstacles are still faced by the regional tourism sector.

Chairman of the DPD Indonesian Pre-Tourism Association (HPI) West Kalimantan Fahroolyadi revealed that Pontianak City is still constrained by the regulatory aspect, especially regarding the issuance of regional regulations and governor regulations regarding tourers.

"This has a direct impact on the income of tour guides. Without a clear legal umbrella, we have difficulty taking action against people outside the region or abroad who violate the rules of the tour," he said.

Dia menambahkan, pengawasan terhadap pemandu wisata lokal yang berlisensi dan bersertifikat juga belum berjalan optimal.

Kondisi ini, menurutnya, berpotensi menimbulkan miskomunikasi dengan wisatawan serta ketidaktepatan dalam penyampaian informasi pariwisata Kalbar.

"Kami berharap ke depan Dinas Pariwisata Provinsi Kalbar dapat memberikan perhatian khusus terhadap pemandu wisata di Kalbar, agar profesi ini memiliki perlindungan hukum dan pengawasan yang lebih kuat," katanya.

He added that the supervision of licensed and certified local tour guides has not yet run optimally.

This condition, according to him, has the potential to cause miscommunication with tourists and inaccuracy in the delivery of West Kalimantan tourism information.

"We hope that in the future the West Kalimantan Provincial Tourism Office can pay special attention to tour guides in West Kalimantan, so that this profession has stronger legal protection and supervision," he said.
