Penjaringan Police Chief Make Sure The Viral Video On Social Media Is A Hoax, This Is The Explanation

The Penjaringan Metro Police confirmed that the post circulating on social media contained a narrative that a junior high school child was framed by the police to bring methamphetamine and then asked for a ransom of Rp. 80 million was not true or a hoax.

"The results of the clarification that what was informed were not true," said the Head of the Penjaringan Metro Police, AKBP Agus Ady Wijaya when confirmed, Sunday, October 26, 2025.

The police chief ensured that the video circulating widely on social media and linked to the Penjaringan area did not match the facts.

His party has carried out direct checks in the field regarding content containing the narrative of the situation of the kamtibmas disturbance.

"After checking, no incident was found as conveyed in the video narrative circulating. The information was not true or a hoax," he said.

AKBP Agus said that the dissemination of unverified information could cause unrest and misunderstanding in the community.

Therefore, he invites people to be more selective in accepting and sharing digital content.

"We urge the public not to immediately believe, spread or make conclusions about the information that is not yet clear, the source and the truth," he said.

Meanwhile, in the viral video footage, only a number of people can be seen visiting a house in the Penjaringan area, North Jakarta. The house is thought to belong to a police officer.

In fact, according to other information, a number of people came to the house belonging to a police officer because it was triggered by allegations of mistreatment of a 15-year-old teenager by the occupants of the house, triggering a mass reaction.

"Regarding some of the information circulating about the houses of members being raided by residents, we are working on it together with the supervisory function of Sie Propam Polres (North Jakarta)," said the Sector Police Chief.

Currently, this information is being handled by the Penjaringan Metro Police and the Professional and Security Section (Sie Propam) of the North Jakarta Metro Police.

"The results of the provisional clarification show that the information circulating is not true. However, to ascertain the real facts, we are still carrying out the deepening process," he said.

AKBP Agus asked the entire community not to be easily provoked by content that could divide or harm certain parties.

He invited the public to play a role in maintaining security and environmental order, especially ahead of sensitive social and political momentum.

"The police continue to work to ensure that the situation remains safe and conducive. We hope that the community will play a role by staying calm and wise in responding to any information," he said.
