JAKARTA - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Sugiono emphasized the importance of strengthening the synergy across ASEAN pillars as well as increasing ASEAN's collective capacity in facing regional security challenges, including cybercrime and online scams.
This was conveyed in the 30th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council (APSC) Meeting, which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Saturday (25/10).
Foreign Minister Sugiono said the 2025 APSC Blueprint has played an important role in maintaining regional peace and stability with an implementation rate of 99.6 percent.
"This achievement is very proud; but we must continue to ensure that our society feels safe, protected, and confident to continue to progress and prosper," he said in a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saturday, October 25.
In this context, the Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of closer coordination between political-security pillars (APSC), the economy (AEC), and social-culture (ASCC) in order to produce an integrated and comprehensive response in the face of multidimensional challenges, including cross-border crimes.
Furthermore, the Indonesian Foreign Minister welcomed the ASEAN Declaration on the Eradication of Cyber Crime and Online Fraud which was recently adopted, and considered the declaration a reflection of ASEAN's strong commitment to protecting the digital space and regional security.
On this occasion, the Foreign Minister also announced Indonesia's plan to organize two important initiatives, namely the Police Cooperation Dialogue Forum for Balind Assistance in Criminal Problems (27 29 October 2025) and the Table-Top Exercise on ASEAN Preparedness to Protect Citizens Abroad (45 December 2025), both of which will take place in Bali.
