Will Discuss Revision Of Election Law, Commission II Of The DPR Encourages Strengthening Of Bawaslu Institutions

JAKARTA - Member of Commission II DPR RI Indrajaya, said the DPR and the government would discuss the revision of the Election Law. He said that his party would encourage the strengthening of Bawaslu institutions, so that they could carry out supervision properly.

"So far, questions have often arisen, after the election, why does Bawaslu seem invisible to work? Even though Bawaslu has a very important role. In the future, Bawaslu's role must be stronger," said Indrajaya in his statement, Saturday, October 25.

According to him, Bawaslu is not only in charge of supervising the course of the election, but also plays a role in producing quality legal products. Indrajaya hopes that Bawaslu will be able to produce good legal products.

"We at Commission II of the DPR RI are committed to strengthening Bawaslu's position through the revision of the upcoming Election Law. Revision of the Election Law will be an important momentum for that," he said.

In addition to strengthening Bawaslu institutions, the politician from the South Papua electoral district also emphasized the importance of civil society participation in the electoral control process.

"Supervision is not only the task of Bawaslu. Civil society must also be actively involved. Because fair elections can only be realized if all parties participate in supervising it," he said.

Indrajaya assessed that activities such as discussion and institutional strengthening are very important as a forum to absorb aspirations and input from various parties.

The results of this discussion can be valuable material for discussing the revision of the Election Law in the DPR later. So, I hope there will be concrete inputs and recommendations from the participants. Later I will fight for it in the DPR," he concluded.
