The joint SAR team evacuated an unidentified body that was found floating in the waters of Pier 3 Merak Port, Cilegon City, Banten Province, Thursday morning.
Merak SAR Alert Unit personnel, Sito, said the discovery of the body was first discovered by ship mooring officers around the location. The incident was immediately reported to the authorities at the port.
"Initial information was received at around 06.39 WIB from Merak Harbor officers who saw a body floating in the waters near Pier 3," said Sito in Serang, Antara, Thursday, November 23.
After receiving the report, the Merak SAR Alert Unit Team together with the joint elements immediately went to the location to evacuate.
"The evacuation process was successfully carried out, the victim was lifted from the waters and immediately evacuated to the Cilegon City Hospital for further identification," he said.
The body is known to be male, wearing a t-shirt, black jeans, and white shoes. Until now, the identity of the victim is still in the process of being investigated by the police.
Evacuation operations involved a number of joint SAR elements, including the Merak SAR Alert Unit, the Merak Port Area Sector Police (KSKP), the Banten Lanal, the Health Quarantine Center, and the Port Security Unit.
