JAKARTA - Indonesia will emphasize the importance of a balanced approach to the use of artificial intelligence, at the Summit for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC) which will be held next week.
This was said by the Director General of Asia, Pacific and African Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Ambassador Abdul Kadir Jailani in a press statement regarding Indonesia's planned participation in the upcoming APEC Summit.
Carrying the theme "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: Connect, Innovate, Prosper", the Summit which will be held under the Chairmanship of South Korea will focus on how to build a future that not only sees the country's economic progress, but also sees the importance of a sustainable aspect of justice," said Ambassador Kadir, who has been appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Germany.
Through this theme, he continued, South Korea will raise two main issues in the future, namely artificial intelligence (AI) and demographic changes.
"AI has great potential to encourage productivity and innovation. However, at the same time we know that progress and the use of AI needs to be managed carefully so as not to worsen the current economic and digital gaps," explained Ambassador Kadir, Wednesday, October 22.
"Indonesia in the upcoming meeting will emphasize the importance of a balanced approach in the use of AI," said Ambassador Kadir.
"Technological development must see and pay attention to human values, social responsibility and sustainability," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the change in demographics, Ambassador Kadir explained, the issue is quite important in the East Asia region and is faced by other countries in the world, where aging population is a major challenge.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, APEC countries, especially those from Southeast Asia, experienced demographic bonuses, said Ambassador Kadir.
