Tumbang Tree Closes Bandung-Cianjur Line, BPBD Handles With TNI-Polri

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) together with joint officers carried out quick handling to reopen the Bandung-Cianjur route, precisely in Karangtengah District which was cut off due to fallen trees.

Head of BPBD Cianjur Iwan Karyadi said heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that hit most of the Cianjur area, made trees on the left and right of roads fall, where the same reports occurred in a number of inter-district routes.

"Currently, the handling is quickly carried out by officers together with the TNI/Polri and volunteers, so that the main road access connecting Bandung-Cianjur can be passed normally from both directions," he said in Cianjur, Wednesday, was confiscated by Antara.

During the evacuation process using a chainsaw, he said, officers from the police directed motorists to alternative routes such as Mande and Sukaluyu, to avoid long queues of vehicles from both directions.

Approaching Wednesday evening, he said, traffic flow was able to pass normally, but motorists were asked to continue to increase caution and be vigilant when crossing along the main Cianjur route from Puncak to Haurwangi.

Meanwhile, other handling is still ongoing because most of the fallen trees closed the connecting road runway between sub-districts so that it could not be passed as reported on Jalan Mande-Cianjur and Jalan Raya Cibeber-Cianjur.

"We have sent officers to collect data related to fallen trees at a number of points, especially on connecting roads between sub-districts in the eastern region of Cianjur, temporary data that there are four points in handling," he said.

His party appealed to residents and motorists to increase disaster preparedness and vigilance over the next few weeks in line with extreme weather that hit most of the Cianjur area, especially those living in areas prone to floods and landslides.

Because he said, most of the Cianjur area is included in the red zone of the highest natural disaster in West Java, so residents must be observant in reading natural signs that a disaster will occur, especially when it rains heavily with an intensity of more than two hours.

"We have alerted all officers and volunteers in each village to carry out surveillance, reporting, and handling quickly when a disaster occurs, including carrying out evacuations," he said.
