From Road To Road, North Kalimantan Police Chief Rangkul Ojol Becomes Tarakan Security Guard

JAKARTA - With green jackets and helmets in hand, hundreds of online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) gathered at Pondok Lesehan, Jalan Slamet Riyadi, Tarakan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Sunday 19 October.

They are not waiting for orders, but answering the invitation from the North Kalimantan Police Chief, Inspector General Pol. Djati Wiyoto Century, to jointly maintain city security.

In an activity entitled Declaration of Online Ojek Partners and Gatherings of the Kaltara Police Chief, the Kapolda emphasized the importance of making online motorcycle taxis not only transportation partners, but also social partners.

They interact directly with the community every day. They know the pulse of this city. Therefore, this synergy is important so that security becomes a shared responsibility," said the Kapolda.

The event, which was attended by 285 members of the community, was warm and full of familiarity. Drivers are given space to express their aspirations, ranging from port rules to hopes that police patrols will be more active in vulnerable hours.

From the meeting was born a joint commitment to maintain security and social order, traffic order, and resolve problems through deliberation. The chairman of ADO, Adrianinur, even initiated the LACAKMAS program (Speed Report Kamtibmas) as a form of active participation of drivers in reporting suspicious incidents in the field.

The head of the Tarakan Transportation Service, Ahmady Burhan, was also present and called this collaboration a real example of the social partnership between the government and the grassroots community.

"We fully support the steps taken by the North Kalimantan Police. The online motorcycle taxi community has great potential to be part of the city's security system," he said.

The event closed with the distribution of symbolic rice aid and photos together, marking the beginning of a new relationship between security forces and street workers who keep the city's life spinning every day.
