JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) reports that the process of translating the Koran into the Makassar Lakiung dialect, which was initiated by the Center for Assessment of Religious Books, Lectures, and Religious Literacy (PBAL2K), will soon enter the stage of public testing.
Head of the PBAL2K Center of the Ministry of Religion, M. Sidik Sisdiyanto, emphasized that the translation of the Quran into regional languages is an important step in an effort to revive the pulse of Al Quran in local languages.
"The translation of the Qur'an into regional languages is expected to convey moral and moral values more closely to the community," said Sidik in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, October 17.
Sidik emphasized that the validation of translation does not only focus on the accuracy of meaning, but also on the taste of language and the power of da'wah.
"So that the Quran does not only become a foreign language text, but becomes a friend in the mother tongue who strengthens Islamic identity which is rahmatan lil alamin," he said.
According to Sidik, the stage of public testing will be the responsibility of a common academic, as well as part of the vibrant religious literacy being echoed by the Ministry of Religion.
"All of this is to ensure there are no more errors in the selection of diction and maintain consistency, because sometimes to state one term alone there are many variants," he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Professor of Makassar State University, Kembong Daeng, for his dedication in translating the Koran into Makassar for years.
Sidik hopes that this translation program will become part of an inclusive and transformative religious literacy movement.
"We will continue to strive to bridge the text of the holy book and the reality of the people. Until now there have been 30 translations into regional languages, and hopefully in the future it will continue to grow," he said.
