JAKARTA - Footage of conversations between the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump and President Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the Gaza Peace Summit forum in Egypt circulated and became a national and international public sorotan.

Despite the wild speculation, informal talks with Trump are actually considered to strengthen President Prabowo and Indonesia's image on the global stage.

"If I look at this informally and personally. If it is pragmatic in foreign politics, this is actually a directed approach to fight for national interests, and I think the discussion of President Prabowo and Trump formally, of course, the direction opens up opportunities as much as possible for Indonesia, obtaining partnerships that are useful for developing presidential programs in the country. In other words, mutual benefits," said Chairman of the Indonesian Media Network (JMSI), Teguh Santosa when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, October 14.

"I think President Prabowo often conveys this in substance that we want to have good relations with our friendly countries not only with political but useful support," he continued. According to Teguh, President Prabowo is currently trying to diversify his Indonesian partners. It can be seen with President Prabowo who is now very active in direct meetings.

"For example, BRICS, good friends with the US, Europe, for example. Yes, because that is what Indonesia must do now. I think almost all presidents on earth are in that direction," he said.

"We are not like the cold war era, we are moving into an era that requires every country to use a diplomatic pattern for the benefit of each country without hostility," Teguh continued.

Teguh considered that the informal meeting between President Prabowo and Trump which was held on the sidelines of peace talks about Gaza was quite interesting. 'This means that this is indeed the international recognition of Prabowo's leadership at the global level," he said.

Touching on public perceptions, Teguh assessed that the conversation between the two actually strengthens the image of Indonesia, both its leaders and people in the international arena.

"Yes, strengthen the image of him (Prabowo) and us (the Indonesian people). That we are more reckoned with, this is also capital for us, so we are more confident, our society business is more confident, our civil society is also more confident in voicing issues. important issues on the global stage, "explained Teguh.

Regarding the conversation between the two of them bringing up a new president of private or diplomatic relations, Teguh assessed that there was nothing private. There is only informal talks between the two leaders of the country.

"Not private, the term is informal and it usually happens. It's like we just attend an event, then after the photo session there must be someone who shakes hands asking each other about personal news. But the orientation is our position on the global stage, I think that," said Teguh.

"Don't be drawn into politics. Moreover, this is called an interest conflict, it's too shallow," he added.

The conversation between President Prabowo and Trump was accidentally recorded as a result of a microphone on the podium that was still on during the High-Level Conference (KTT) for Peace at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, Monday13 OCTober.

In the leaked footage, Prabowo was heard saying an area that was 'unsecured from security gisties', then continued with a question to Trump, 'Can I meet Eric?'

Trump replied, "I'll askEricto.He's a good kid. I'll askEricto."

Prabowo then added, 'We're going to look for a better place.' Trump confirmed back, 'I'm going to ask your Erick.' Prabowolalu added, 'Eric or Don Jr.'

The conversation raised a public speculation because Erick Trump and Donald Trump Jr. are executives on the Trump Organization, realestat companies and hotels owned by the Trump family. The company has a number of projects in Indonesia, including golf clubs outside Jakarta and resorts in Bali that are still under development.
