TEMANGGUNG - A total of 39 houses in Temanggung Regency, Central Java, were damaged by strong winds that hit four sub-districts on Monday evening.
The affected areas include Temanggung, Tembarak, Tlogomulyo, and Selopampang sub-districts.
Acting (Pj) Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Temanggung Regency, Ripto Susilo, said there were no casualties or injuries in the incident. However, eight heads of families (KK) were forced to evacuate because their houses were heavily damaged.
"Eight of the houses were heavily damaged on the roof, the tiles were blurred and the gavalum was loose, so they couldn't live there and had to evacuate at your brother's house," said Ripto while reviewing the location of the incident in Manding Village, Temanggung District, Antara, Tuesday, October 14.
Meanwhile, 31 other houses only suffered minor damage and had received treatment from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) officers together with residents.
For houses that were heavily damaged, the local government provided material assistance in the form of wood, zinc, iron, and cement so that they could be repaired immediately.
Ripto appealed to the public to remain alert to extreme weather, especially during the transitional season which is prone to causing heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.
'Disasters like this are difficult to predict. Yesterday morning until the afternoon the weather was sunny, but suddenly heavy rain came accompanied by strong winds. Therefore, the public must be vigilant and ready," he said.
