JAKARTA - Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Komjen Pol Sujudi Ario Seto invites the public not to be afraid to report and follow the drug rehabilitation program. According to him, rehabilitation is not a form of punishment, but a healing step for those who are entangled in narcotics abuse.

"Rehabilitation is not a punishment, but a way to recover. The state is not here to judge, but to help," said Komjen Sujudi Ario Seto to reporters, Monday, October 13.

BNN's efforts under the leadership of Komjen Sujudi have now emphasized a humanitarian approach in handling narcotics abuse. The old paradigm that considers addicts as criminals, according to him, must be changed.

Drug Rehabilitation Is The Right Of Citizens

The former Banten Police Chief emphasized that every narcotics abuser has the right to receive rehabilitation services. This is regulated in Article 54 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which confirms that addicts are required to undergo medical and social rehabilitation.

"Reporting for rehabilitation does not mean that you will be imprisoned. In fact, it is a bold step to save yourself, your family, and the future," he added.

The rehabilitation program run by BNN is also a form of state protection for its citizens, so that they can recover, be productive, and return to play a role in society.

Komjen Sujudi emphasized that BNN is now more focused on restoring human dignity. Through medical and social-based rehabilitation programs, users are directed to recover thoroughly, both physically and psychologically.

This step is also in line with BNN's national strategy in reducing drug abuse rates in Indonesia by prioritizing cross-sectoral empathy, education, and collaboration.

"With rehabilitation, we not only heal the body, but also save the nation's future from the impact of narcotics," said Komjen Sujudi.
