JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said his party would conduct an evaluation after the Indonesian National Team (Garuda) failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after suffering a narrow 0-1 defeat to Iraq in the match which took place on Sunday 12 October.
Pras, the Minister of State Secretary's nickname, asked the Indonesian people not to be discouraged and never get tired of supporting the Indonesian national team.
"We try again, we evaluate, we fix it again, don't be discouraged, continue, never get tired of loving the national team," said Pras when giving a statement after attending a limited meeting chaired by President Prabowo at the residence of Kertanegara, Jakarta, Sunday night.
On the other hand, Pras considered the national team's performance to be very good, despite a narrow 0-1 defeat to Iraq in the fourth round of Asian zone 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
He considered that luck had not taken sides with the Garuda Team.
"Last night the game was amazing, it's really good, but maybe fate hasn't taken sides yet," he said.
On the previous occasion, Chairman of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir apologized to all elements of the Indonesian people because the Indonesian national team had not been able to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after a narrow 0-1 loss from Iraq.
