Fleeing Over The Brawl, Students In Cengkareng Died Drowning In The Green Court River

The police revealed that a student drowned in the Kali Green Court, East Cengkareng area, West Jakarta, Friday, October 10, while trying to escape from the pursuit of residents after being involved in a brawl, on Friday, October 10.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cengkareng Police, AKP Parman Gultom, said that the teenager with the initials MAM (17) fled with a friend by throwing himself into the Kali Green Court.

"So they were fighting around the location. The angry residents chased them. Well, the victim and his friend fled, panicked, threw them into the river," Gultom said when contacted in Jakarta, Saturday.

Seeing the two teenagers who plunged into the river, then the residents tried to save the two by handing them bamboo.

"One student was rescued, but another student was not saved. From the testimony of the surviving student, this victim could not swim. Residents have tried to save it," he said.

According to him, the thick mud in the Green Court River is thought to have made it more difficult for victims to swim.

After the incident, the SAR Team was involved to find the victim who drowned on Friday, October 10.

"Then, not long after the sinking, the victim was found," said Gultom.

Until now, the police are still investigating the case of the sinking of the 17-year-old student.

"We have examined several witnesses. On CCTV there is also a video of students with this victim running. The point is that we are still investigating the motive," he said.
