BMKG: Light Rain Dominates Weather Throughout Indonesia Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said light rain is expected to dominate Indonesia's weather on Friday, October 10 followed by thick clouds.

BMKG weather forecaster Rira A Damanik in a statement quoted in Jakarta, Friday, said that for the Sumatra region, the potential for thick cloudyness is found in the Padang area, the potential for light rain in the Banda Aceh area, the potential for moderate rain in the Medan and Tanjung Pinang areas,

"Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the Pekanbaru area," said Rira, quoted by ANTARA, Friday morning.

Still in Sumatra, said Rira, in general there is the potential for light rain in parts of Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, and Bandar Lampung.

For the Java region, he said, there is the potential for air to escape in the Surabaya area and in general it has the potential for light rain in the Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Yogyakarta areas.

Then in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, there is the potential for cloudyness for the Denpasar area and the potential for light rain in the Mataram area. He also reminded to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning for the Kupang area.

As for the Kalimantan region, there is the potential for thick cloudyness in Samarinda, Palangka Raya, and Banjarmasin areas, the potential for light rain in the Pontianak area. In addition, he said, it is also necessary to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the Tanjung Selor area.

Meanwhile, for the Sulawesi region, there is the potential for thick clouds in the Makassar area, the potential for light rain in the Palu, Gorontalo, Kendari, and Manado areas, and the potential for moderate rain in the Mamuju area.

"For the eastern part of Indonesia, there is the potential for thick cloudyness in the Manokwari area, the potential for light rain in Ternate, Sorong, Ambon, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and the potential for moderate rain in the Nabire and Merauke areas," he said.
