Gayo Lues Police Destroy 58 Hectares Of Cannabis Field

ACEH - Gayo Lues Resort Police (Polres), Aceh Province, destroyed a total area of 58 hectares from January to September 2025.

Gayo Lues Police Chief AKBP Hyrowo said tens of hectares of marijuana fields were scattered in various locations with most land conditions on the slopes of the mountains.

"Throughout 2025, the Gayo Lues Police have uncovered and destroyed a total of 58 hectares of marijuana fields. The discovery of this cannabis field is thanks to the support and information of the public," he said in Banda Aceh, Antara, Tuesday, October 7.

The middle-ranking police officer said that most of the cannabis fields are located in the Agusen District, Gayo Lues Regency. The banned plant is planted in hard-to-reach areas and is mostly on the slopes of the mountains.

"This is what we regret, people are only victims. These individuals use the community to grow marijuana and then smuggle it into North Sumatra to be circulated," he said.

Therefore, Hyrowo invites the people of Gayo Lues Regency to no longer be used by narcotics dealers by planting marijuana by diverting plant planting which has economic value such as coffee, cocoa, and others.

The diversion of cannabis cultivation is to break the supply chain of marijuana. If the supply chain can be decided, it can save many people from danger and threaten these prohibited plants.

"We also invite the public and village officials to work together to eradicate cannabis cultivation. People don't want to be sacrificed again just for the benefit of narcotics networks, especially marijuana," said Hyrowo.
