Locomotive Glass Broken Assistant Driver Injured, North Sumatra KAI Furious Throwing Stones At Asahan's Palm Oil Train

MEDAN - Security officer of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division I of North Sumatra strongly condemns the throwing of stones at the 2826 Purjakis Train (KA) carrying crude palm oil with the Kisaran 'Puluaja relation.

"KAI security officers immediately conducted a search at the scene to find and arrest the perpetrators of the throwing," said North Sumatra KAI Public Relations Manager Divre I, M. As'ad Habibuddin in Medan, Antara, Tuesday, October 7.

The incident occurred in Kota Kisaran Barat District, Asahan Regency, precisely at kilometer 02 + 000 between Kisaran Station and Hengela Station, on Tuesday at 08.09 WIB.

As a result of the incident, the locomotive cabin glass broke, and the assistant driver named Rizky Ananda suffered facial injuries.

"We immediately took Rizky Ananda to the nearest clinic for intensive care," said As'ad.

He emphasized that actions like this could be charged with severe criminal sanctions. Based on the Criminal Code (KUHP) Article 194 paragraph (1), anyone who deliberately endangers public traffic on the railway line can face up to 15 years in prison.

"Even if it results in casualties, the perpetrator can be sentenced to life imprisonment or a maximum sentence of 20 years," he explained.

"This is not an ordinary violation, but a dangerous act that violates the law and threatens the safety of many people," said As'ad.

To prevent similar incidents, KAI strengthens security in vulnerable routes by increasing patrols with the TNI/Polri, conducting socialization to schools and communities, and installing CCTV at strategic points.

"We urge the public to work together to maintain the safety of train travel. Collective awareness is needed so that the railway environment is safe and free from throwing," said As'ad.
