COVID-19 Patients Dismembered, Mayor Of Tanjungpinang Rahman Closes Gelper

TANJUNGPINANG - The Mayor of Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (Kepri) Rahma closed the activity of the game rink (gelper) after the number of COVID-19 positive patients in the city was revealed.

The closure is based on Circular Letter Number: 331.1/782/5.4.01/2021 signed by the Mayor of Tanjungpinang, Rahma on the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities in order to Control the Spread of COVID-19.

It said the gelper's closure was up to an undetermined deadline.

In addition to gelper, business owners of restaurants, food courts, cafes, coffee shops, internet cafes, cinemas, shopping parlors, karaoke, discotheques, nightclubs, and billiards are required to close at 22.00 WIB.

Based on monitoring, gelpers in Tanjungpinang are found at a number of points, such as in Jalan Pancur, Suka Berenang, and Bintan Plaza. While the casino in the closed area is located around the Potong Lembu area.

"If our business is closed, we ask that the business of the prize song (kim) should be closed as well. It has to be fair," said one of the gelper managers in Tanjungpinang quoted antara, Monday, May 17.

Previously, Secretary of Kepri Tengku Said Arif Fadillah expressed concern over potential activities causing crowds to still occur in Tanjungpinang.

"We asked that his permission be evaluated, including gelpers, kim, casinos and others," he said.
