At The 80th Anniversary Of The TNI, Puan: Hopefully It Will Be More Professional, Modern And Ready To Face Cyber Threats

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, congratulated the Indonesian National Army (TNI) on her 80th birthday. Puan hopes that the TNI will be more professional and modern and able to face cyber threats.

"Happy 80th Anniversary to the Indonesian National Army. The TNI is a national defense stronghold who has always been loyal to safeguard the sovereignty and safety of the Indonesian people," said Puan in a statement to reporters, Sunday, October 5.

"Hopefully the TNI will be more professional, modern, and continue to be the pride of the nation with the Indonesian people," he added.

As is known, the TNI held the commemoration of its 80th Anniversary (HUT) at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta, on Sunday, October 5. The TNI's 80th Anniversary with the theme TNI Prima, TNI Rakyat, Indonesia Maju was attended directly by President Prabowo Subianto. Puan also appeared to be present at the moment of the celebration.

According to Puan, eight decades of TNI service reflect the nation's long journey in building a defense that was born from the people and fought for the people.

"In the midst of increasingly complex global dynamics, ranging from geopolitical competitions, non-traditional security threats, to technological and information disruption, the role of the TNI is not only as a military force, but also as a frontline in maintaining national stability which is a prerequisite for the development and welfare of the people," he said.

Therefore, in the momentum of commemorating the TNI's 80th Anniversary, Puan again reminded the TNI to be able to increase technological power in today's era of development. Moreover, the threat of cyber attacks is a new threat to Indonesia's defense.

Puan assessed that the development of cyber defense must be the attention of the TNI. He also emphasized that the TNI must continue to adapt to technological developments and strategies to face global challenges accompanied by innovation so that it becomes a modern and professional army.

"The TNI must have strength in dealing with various threats of sovereignty, including from cyber attacks. So it is important to ensure that the development of military defense postures with sophisticated defense equipment elections and in accordance with needs," explained Puan.

"Of course, sophisticated tools will not be optimal without being accompanied by reliable human resources (HR). So the TNI is obliged to have personnel who are deftile and master defense technology," he continued.

Furthermore, Puan emphasized that the theme of this year's commemoration, 'TNI Prima, TNI Rakyat, Indonesia Maju' contains a strategic message that defense forces are not only determined by the number of personnel or modernity of defense equipment, but by the ability of the TNI to adapt to the challenges of the times, build professionalism, and maintain people's trust.

"The TNI, which is professional and has the character of the people, is a guarantee for the establishment of democracy and the independence of the nation," said Puan.
