Ukraine Denies US Shutdown Affects Trump's Support And Arms Supply Against Russia

JAKARTA - Ukraine denies the assumption that the closure of the United States (US) government or shutdown affects the supply of weapons against Russia, including negotiations on the US drone manufacturing technology transfer agreement to Ukraine.

"Salah. Negotiations on the Ukrainian-US drone deal went according to plan and shipping continued to arrive," wrote Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tikhiy on his X account, Friday, October 3.

The US government shut down on October 1 after Republicans and Democrats met a deadlock in the discussion of the draft law (RUU) on federal budget spending in the Senate.

The inclusion of the budget bill for the new fiscal year is amid a dispute between representatives of Republicans and Democrats in the US Senate over a number of expenditure posts, including public health spending. They accuse each other of provoking and extending the shutdown for political purposes.

Previously, it was reported that the Ukrainian negotiating team arrived in Washington on October 1 to discuss agreement negotiations with US authorities regarding drones. The deal contains a joint drone production agreement worth up to 50 billion US dollars.

Several Western media reported that after the US Government shut down, the negotiations were canceled. In addition, President Donald Trump's support for the supply of US weapons to Ukraine has been delayed.
