The Slope Of Mount Batur Kintamani Caught Fire, Allegedly Because Of The Profit Of Cigarettes

The forest and land fires (karhutla) occurred on the slopes of Mount Batur, the conservation area of Bukit Payang Nature Tourism Park (TWA), Kintamani District, Bangli Regency, Bali.

Kintamani Police Chief Kompol Made Dwi Puja Rimbawa said the incident occurred on Thursday (2/10) afternoon. The fire that spread has been extinguished.

"(The fire) was observed to have been extinguished. (The fire) is located on the slopes of Mount Batur, the conservation area of Mount Batur TWA, precisely at coordinates S -8,242243 degrees, E 115,378957 degrees, forest fires have occurred," said Kompol Rimbawa, Friday, October 3.

According to him, initially residents saw the flames at around 12.00 WITA on the slopes of Mount Batur. The joint team extinguished.

"The fire that had spread down to the Pura Pasar Agung area was successfully cut off by blocking it through controlled burning," he said.

"The area of the burned land is still in the process of collecting data by the relevant agencies," he continued.

It is suspected that the fire came from cigarette butts that were thrown away by unknown people.

"The fire allegedly appeared because of an unknown person who carried out climbing activities on Mount Batur who threw cigarette butts in the bushes or weeds were already dry," he said.
