JAKARTA - Iraq welcomes US President Donald Trump's plan to end Israel's war on Gaza, rebuild the region, and prevent forced evacuation of Palestinians.

Iraq's Foreign Ministry on the US social media platform, X, Wednesday, October 1, praised the points in the plan which included stopping the war, rebuilding the Gaza Strip, preventing forced evacuation of Palestinians, and opposing West Bank annexation.

The ministry expressed hope that this plan could help end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and ensure adequate delivery of humanitarian aid without restrictions, as well as hinder all attempts to forcefully transfer residents.

Qatar on Tuesday (30/9) confirmed the Palestinian group, Hamas, had accepted Trump's proposed plans through mediators on Monday (29/9) night and promised to review it responsibly.

Foreign ministers from T\örkiye, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt issued a statement on Monday expressing their confidence in Trump's ability to find a path to peace.

On the same day, Trump announced plans for 20 points to end Israel's war in Gaza at a press conference at the White House with Israel's chief authority Benjamin Netanyahu.

The plan calls for the release of all Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of dozens of Palestinian prisoners, the overall dismantling of Hamas weapons, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops, as well as the formation of Palestinian technocratic and apolitic committees to rule the enclave.

The plan also mentions the possibility of a path to self-determining and an independent state for Palestine, but not as collateral.

Since October 2023, Israeli soldiers have killed more than 66,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children. The relentless bombing has left the enclave uninhabitable, causing mass hunger and disease spread.
