KPK Ready To Help Prabowo 'Clean-Clean' BUMN, Corruption Mode Is In Hand

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that it had handled many cases of alleged corruption involving State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). The modes of crime that were revealed varied, ranging from bribes to consolidating the procurement of goods and services which resulted in harm to state finances.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo when responding to President Prabowo Subianto's desire to 'clean up' aka eradicating corruption within SOEs. President Prabowo was previously known to be furious because many state company employees enriched themselves through corrupt behavior.

"If we talk about the context of eradicating corruption in the BUMN sector, from several cases handled by the KPK, it is widely revealed that modes such as bribery, gratification, then consolidation in the procurement of goods and services, including state financial losses," Budi told reporters, quoted on Wednesday, October 1.

Corruption Gap Causes Business Inefficiencies

Budi emphasized that this corrupt condition clearly needs to be improved. Therefore, the anti-corruption commission fully supports President Prabowo's intention.

"That then creates business inefficiencies in SOEs. If we can minimize corruption-prone gaps through a prevention approach, we can create a business climate in this SOE to be more efficient and more effective," he said.

In addition to taking action, the KPK has actually often collaborated with SOEs in efforts to prevent corruption. This collaboration, said Budi, was carried out through a study of strategic sectors and the implementation of corruption prevention guidelines (Pancek).

"So the KPK has some kind of guidance or guidelines to create a business climate with integrity that can be downloaded for free by business actors," he continued.

Prabowo's Order: Pursue And Clean Up In Three Years

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto had instructed the Attorney General's Office and the KPK to thoroughly investigate irregularities in BUMN. The goal is that state assets can be utilized optimally for the benefit of the people.

"I want to send the Prosecutor's Office and the KPK to pursue it. How do you need to be chased or not? Prabowo will be called cruel," Prabowo said in his speech at the peak of the National Conference (Munas) VI of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Monday, September 29.

Prabowo gave law enforcement two to three years to solve corruption problems in BUMN. "We are waiting for their results. God willing, we will achieve what we hope," he concluded.
