President Trump Says Iran Could Join Abraham Accords

JAKARTA - United States President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran could join Abraham Accords, an agreement that bridges Israel's normalization of relations with Arab countries.

"Who knows, maybe Iran could join," Trump told a news conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"I think they will be open to that. I'm very sure of that. But they can be members," he added.

President Trump's remarks came after Israel became involved in attacking each other with Iran in the 12-day War on June 13-24, in which the United States recently engaged in attacking Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan on June 22.

Abraham Accords itself is a bridge to the normalization of Israel's relations with a number of Arab countries initiated by the first term of President Trump's administration, signed by Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Israel on September 15, 2020 in Washington DC. Morocco following December 2020 and Sudan January 2021.

On Sunday, Abraham Shield, a non-partisan Israeli group put up billboards featuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Jordanian King Abdullah II, United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

AbrahamShild25's account in a post on social media X wrote, "Israel's coalition for Regional Security has launched a new national billboard campaign urging the government to support President Donald Trump's initiative to end the war in Gaza and expand the Abrahamic Agreement."

"The Coalition of a non-partisan group consisting of 120+ senior leaders of Israel's security, policy and economy calls Trump's proposal a serious and responsible step towards turning Israel's military gain into a strategy," the post continued.
